The effects of dental health educational method to the of dental health behavior on mothers and preschool children

Abstract


Objectives: Constructing a computerized caries risk simulator for preschool children in accordance with their risk
factors to explain how big the risk for preschool children, and the dominant risks. The risk factors are the combination of child characteristics and the mothers.

Methods: The research was cross sectional study, with the study population were 2,656 children from 13 BPK
Penabur kindergarten schools in Jakarta, including East Jakarta, West Jakarta, Central Jakarta, South Jakarta and North Jakarta.

Results: After a series of logistic regression multivariate analysis, there were some significant variables which
could be arranged. The formula of the simulator is as below:P (X) = 1 / {1 + exp [- ( ¥á + ¥Ò ¥â 1 X1 )]}.

Conclusion: The dental health educational method through class tooth-brushing activity and kid-dentists is more
effective than method of puppets story for children in changing the dental health behavior of preschool children.
